Cranial Incisored

Cranial Incisored is an Indonesian brutal death metal project that plays a spazzy and technical form of the genre by combining aspects of mathcore and jazz fusion. Musically on paper their sound can be described as a mixture of Candiria (who lowkey pioneered mathcore back in 1995 with their debut “Surrealistic Madness”), The Dillinger Escape Plan, Malignancy and maybe Carbonized to some extent (especially during the latter's “Disharmonization” era). Even then, upon further inspection Cranial Incisored is an entirely different monster as they have one mode in mind: being unconventionally and unapologetically ruthless.

If the mess of band names that were mentioned prior isn’t obvious, Cranial Incisored's playing style is extremely volatile, from the unusual, scatterbrained jazzy/tech death drumming to the unpredictable, jerky guitar playing. They would often jump around between clean jazz fusion and weirdo electronic parts to aid their bizarre take on BDM; because of their refreshing approach they are often hailed as one of the most unique bands in their scene, and rightly so.

The band released their debut album called "Rebuild: The Unfinished Interpretation of Irrational Behavior" in 2003. They gained a considerable amount of attention locally after that, though for the most part they seemed to be flown under the radar, which is unfortunate.

In 2009, the band's sophomore effort "Lipan's Kinetic" was released. They basically continued playing their unique style, so as expected if you enjoy their debut then this album is a good continuation. At the moment nobody really knows what happened to this band. It's unclear whether they're disbanded or simply taking a break from playing.
